Today January 26, 2011, I left my house to go to work and it seemed an ordinary day. The newspapers announced a strike and the main theme in many radio had to do with the election of the Secretary of the Dominican Municipal League (This is an organization founded by a dictator called Trujillo and do not know that benefits the institution in the country) . There are a few flags in the city and is not a holiday. On Monday we had a holiday in your honor but allegedly was taken so that the majority leaving for the beach. Some wreaths will take you to your grave, except the president who is traveling. Perhaps these
things do not make you feel bad because I know you were never a man to wait airs be exalted as a messiah or anything like that. You dreamed of a free and sovereign, and you made the effort to build it. Today we are free from foreign domination, but we are slaves of other Dominicans who constantly abuse the power of using state assets. I think that itself is not to your liking. I remember in school they taught me a phrase of yours that said: "Until there is a lesson to the traitors and should be, good and true Dominicans continue to be victims of their machinations." Here are officers every day treason by corruption, as there are Dominicans who betray their country with criminal acts of killings and drug trafficking and are not chastens as traitors they are.
You said once that "Life without a country is the same as living without honor", but "Country" and "Honor" are words that just might appear in some speeches flights. In school I was taught that the oath of the Trinity said, "... cooperate with me, life and property ..." and here the officers are men who force people to cooperate to fill them real. And I wonder if the school are taught these things. Rather, they have now proposed a "text integrated "that seek to lose our identity, one that you wanted to have. Children are not given a proper breakfast nor the necessary education. At least there is a bunch of young people requires 4% of the national budget for education as mandated by the constitution but the government did not heed them.
If you go out into the streets to ask young people of this country and who would like to be, they just say they want to be as a player, as a singer or as president. Many want to be as such and such a Sobeida August, others look at foreign models. What a shame that nobody wants to be like you. They do not want to be like you.
